Thanks ronl I had no idea Points North was
even here
It's hard for me to navigate this site for
some reason:( I will listen. okie
I listened to the link for Points North Ron.
Your right about the patients story's. They
were very moving and I could hear their
pain....for the first time. You can hear
their pain in their voices. Seems they are
coming to terms with their stay there, but
the pain of their stay will never go away.
Such sadness in their voices.
Thank you Ron for the link.

Ron, if you'd like to use any of my pictures
from this page
http://www.kirkbridebuildings.com/build ...
versecity/ I'd be honored.
Also, the historical photo on that page is
in the public domain and you could use that
too if you want.
If you do want to use any of those pictures, let me know which ones in particular and I will send them off to you.
I'm looking forward to the book.

Today I set up a forums on
http://www.hall-18.com
http://www.hall-18.com/forums/index.php
This is for the Post Book and other discussions.
I will even have a direct link to this website in the forums.
If it wasn't for these forums I would still be living a lie, my book my story has its roots here at http://www.kirkbridebuildings.com/ and I would like to thank Ethan for having me here and his generous offer on his pictures of Traverse City State Hospital.
I would also like to thank all of you who have taken part by your questions which opened my memories.
I would also like to thank Mike for being my friend through all of this.
I have come to a point where I have a few other memories which I will keep for the book, (so you will buy it, lol)
I will still answer any questions you may still have, here or there.
I will visit these forums and website daily.
Thanks again

Wow, what a captivating thread, could not
stop reading till the last page! with so
many made-up and bogus stories about TCSH,
it's great to actually learn something new.
There are good reasons why young TCSH patients of that time are "forgotten children": the late 60's saw the worst overcrowding/ underfunding in the institution's history, and you guys endured the conditions that led to the hospital's demise. Many people involved have unfortunately chosen to forget these sad times.
Your perspective is unusual and possibly unique: how many kids do you think lived with you in Hall 18, and had all of the following: high intelligence and mental function, ability to distinguish between real and imagined events, and vivid memories 40 years later, not to mention the emotional strength to share them in a balanced (both good and bad memories) way? I would bet not too many.
Having worked on the history of this asylum for years, I appreciate truthful information, and will get your book when it comes out.
I have a bunch of photos I could share, old and new, I will look in my archives for any that may match your list. I may even have one of the local brass with the "gold-shovel" first dig of the new children's center, no promise but I will check.

The bogus stories is what made me come out
and set straight the facts from the myths.

I believe we had about 50 to 65 kids at any one time on Hall-18
Most were smart enough to go to school, but some did not have it upstairs to do much of anything, these were usually calm, but when they went off wow. Almost all kids were on heavy drugs, and sometimes real and imagination while on Thorazine somehow seemed the same. I personally use to go to this place in my mind while in seclusion and it was not real, but it just did not matter, it was better than seclusion. Sometimes at night I still go there and it puts me to sleep.
I can remember because I have from time to time recall, and all it takes is a trigger to make it come out. Triggers are smells, sounds, colors, pictures. boy do pictures really bring me out. I enjoy answering questions because it is a trigger too.
Over the past 6 months I have re-visited every square inch of hall-18 and the grounds in my mind. Someday I think I would like to go back there just like in my dreams.
.
Do you have any pictures inside of hall-18 and hall-7, also the new admin building and receiving building 37 and 37a, all i have is a real small one.

Hi Ron, I have a few (not enough!)
before-remodel photos of Hall 18,
unfortunately taken with a 1-megapixel
camera (in 2002-2003 mostly). I assume
construction or new-condo pics are not what
you want. Hall 7 is no problem, I can take
photos anytime as it has not been altered
yet. 37 and 37A were torn down in 1995
before my time. I will check my historic
files tomorrow.
My e-mail is currently unreliable, is there an easy way to either upload photos from a USB stick to a web site, or physically give a USB stick or CD to someone from TC?

When I first went on line in search for
TCSH, I was expecting to find bogus stories
made up by others.
When Heidi Johnson contacted me,(RIP) one of the first things she said was, there was a debate going on between the historians about whether or not children had ever lived on Hall#18.
I expect to find more websites with info, and pic's on TCSH.

asylum-savers ........ On my new
forums at
http://www.hall-18.com/forums/index.php
I setup picture uploading to 1200 by 768 in size and 10 to a post.
sign up and go into the forums, start a tread and upload them.
if your pictures are bigger than that let me know and I will make the file size bigger.
Any of hall-18 will be nice
I am interested in hall-7 because I always wanted to know what it looked like behind them doors. It will also be a nice archive for the future
