Well I think it is remarkable that the 2 of you remember as much as you do. I have tried to put so much of my past behind, I don't want to remember. I know if your stories are not told, then others will never know what went on there. I am sure it very hard and painful to bring it up. I just finally gave up up on my depression, just can't shake it. Was breed into me. lol
I will try and think of more questions to help job your memories and other links. I appreciate the kindness you have extened to me. Thank you both!
ron you memetion Dr Thill, Do you remember his first name? May help in a search.

I think I gave the wrong dates of my stay on an earlier post.
I was born in "54", I was admitted to TCSH at the age of 7, and was there appox, 5 yrs.
So that comes out to, 1961-1966.

How did your release come about? You were 12. That 5 years was a lifetime, I would imagine. So young.

Dr Thill, Do you remember his first name

As I remember I did ask him once and got balled out for doing so, he was a hateful man, but he had a girls name, lol Most of us kids joked about it. I think it was Julian .
.
Most everyone on the staff had just 1 name and I never knew if what I called them was their first or last name. It was always something like Mr. Martin, Mr. Curtice, Mrs. Shaffer, Miss Jeanie, etc. Back than they never wore a name tag. They always wore starched white uniforms with black shoes, just like in the movies.
.
Not knowing their name has been the brick wall I run into trying to look them up on the internet.
.
I would love to find Mr Cook, Mr Martin, Mr Curtie, and Mrs Jeanie, and thank them for being a human and a friend, these were very kind people who really cared about us kids.

I am sure you did get balled out for asking. Back then children were to be seen and not heard. You always called an Adult by Mr or Mrs. I was sad that formality go by the way side relaly. It did show some respect to your elders. I can see where that is as a brick wall for you. Am also wondering if some or most of these people have passed on. Some would really be getting up there in years by now. I guess you have tried the myspace..facebook..etc. Hopefully some of the other residents from there will find this site. All though not an easy site to find. But you did find some :)

It was a rule to call the staff by Dr., Mr. or Mrs. If you did not do this punishment would be issued.
.
I have been a computer tech, internet server owner for 20 years and this website has excellent meta tags and scripts, I used my knowledge and used the correct words to come up high in search engines. Now if a person does a search of Children at Traverse City State Hospital, or Hall 18 or Hall 7, we come up on top of the thousands of entries. I believe if other kids start looking, I made it easy to find us.
I have looked for years and have spent many, many hours looking for old friends, all I found was mis-information on how it really was, and I found them ghost believers, lol, and the third party stories. I hope I have put them all to rest. With Mikes input to back me up, the true story gets told. I do hope other children of TCSH, join us so a more complete story gets told. I am sure other distorted memories will come to light as more questions are asked. I worry that I may become stale and boring, redundant.

ronl I don't think you will become stale or redundant at all. If others find that to be the case they didn't care about your memories in the first place. You have become a very astute student of the internt and computers..I envy that, I just started late in life :) Well I think you have covered all the bases. I hope others show up. The stigmastim associated with mental health and being in treatment still holds true today. People don't want to admit they were there or have blocked it out all together.
Yes the ghost hunters. lol Have seen plenty of those sites.
Well the story will be told by you and mike and thank goodness. It needs to be told, so it won't be swept under the rug...so to speak. So wouldn't worry to much about what others think about your writings... the are entiled to their opinion and you know what they say about them :) lol.

okie, to delete a post.........you'll find at the top of the post a [X] next to [edit]. clicking that will delete the post. You need to do this before someone else posts because after that it's gone.
